Retrospective : A Year On ...part two
As we entered the new year 2020, I was looking forward to my 50th , with a series of celebratory events. Six months on, I am not in this unique situation, for practically everyone’s birthdays and milestones celebrations have been curtailed since March 2020. Who am I to moan about my disappointment.
To use this year’s over-use word of ‘unprecedented’ to describe how we feel (no less differently from our fellow human being) – missing the giving and receiving of hugs from family and friends (Zoom videos, Houseparty and Whatsapp calls just do not cut it in a long run), cabin fever, our boredom, lack of physical mobility, unable to plan any travel to exotic destinations, visiting my mum and dad in Malaysia, a movie in the cinema, a drink or ten in a pub bustling with noise and friendships. Not so much missing the tube journey though. Oh, let’s not forget, our honeymoon and an additional wedding reception (in Kuching), scheduled for April had to be postponed! What drama we have had to date, all happening within these four walls.
